There’s something magical about waking up in the wilderness. The crisp morning air, the scent of pine, and the promise of that first cup of coffee. On my latest camping trip, to Old Federal Campground at Lake Lanier, GA. I ditched the instant coffee packets and brought along something special: the GROSCHE Milano Moka Pot. And let me tell you, it completely changed my camping morning ritual as I discovered what I now believe is the best method to make coffee while camping.

Let’s be honest, coffee is a non-negotiable when you’re camping. But if you’ve ever suffered through instant coffee, using a French Press or over-complicated setups in the great outdoors, you know what I’m talking about.

There is no magic trick to have the Ultimate camping coffee setup to make an excellent cup of coffee while in the outdoors. All I used to make it is:

That’s it. Within minutes of waking up, I just had to:

While I waited for the coffee to brew, I had time to play a game of Tic Tac To using the DIY Tic Tac To game I had made out of wood. After 3 games, the coffee was ready and I had a hot, strong, rich brew bubbling cup of coffee on camp stove ready to drink while the forest woke up around me. Forget the clunky percolators or messy French presses. This setup is lightweight, compact, and makes excellent coffee in the wild.

Best Method to Make Coffee While Camping

1. It Makes Strong, Delicious Coffee

The Milano brews coffee that’s rich and full-bodied and is almost espresso-like. It’s perfect black or with a splash of milk. Way better than anything you’ll get from an instant pack or cowboy coffee pot.

2. No Electricity, No Problem

This is true off-grid brewing. As long as you have a flame, you’re good to go. The GROSCHE Milano works perfectly on any stovetop or portable burner, making it ideal for backwoods adventures or RV camping.

3. It’s Lightweight and Durable

Made of high-quality aluminum, the Milano is sturdy enough for the outdoors but light enough to toss in your gear without noticing. No glass, no batteries, no nonsense.

4. Dead Simple to Use

Three parts. That’s it. Fill the bottom with water, scoop coffee into the filter, screw on the top, and place it on the stove. In 4–5 minutes, your coffee is brewed, bubbling, and ready to wake you up.

5. Effortless Cleanup

Camping is messy enough. The Milano rinses clean with water in seconds. No filters, no grounds everywhere, no drama.

6. Eco-Friendly & Zero Waste

No single-use pods, plastic parts, or paper filters. Just coffee, water, and aluminum. Better for the planet, and better for your pack weight.

7. Coffee with a Cause

What’s cooler than brewing epic coffee in the wild? Doing it while supporting a good cause. GROSCHE uses each purchase to help provide clean drinking water to communities in need through their Safe Water Project.

A couple of Christmases ago, I received the GROSCHE Milano Moka Pot from my sister. It was a great gift as my father recommended it and was eager to get one. Since then, I have been using it at home on my gas stove top and it makes great coffee. My latest camping trip to Lake Lanier, GA was the perfect chance to try it out while camping.

While there several cheaper brand of Moka pots available on the market, I feel that paying the extra $10 is worth it as it is of excellent quality and heats up evenly.
