Kawaisa is a website that was started by my wife, Helen Patricia Martinez Fajardo who had a love and passion for arts and crafts and wanted to share her work with the rest of the world.

As a big fan of Japanese anime, she chose the name, “Kawaisa‘ as a misspelling of the Japanese noun for “Kawaii” which means “cute” or “adorable“.

However, God had other plans for her and she passed away on March 6 of 2020 leaving behind a husband and a son. In her memory, I am keeping and continuing this website as part of her legacy during my spare time with the help of other family members. I hope that like she did for me, this site will bring joy to many others.

About Patricia

Patricia and Ethan

Patricia was born in March of 1980 in Costa Rica and I was lucky to meet her in 2004 while I was vacationing at the beach. It all worked out well and we got married in 2006. Even though she had a tough childhood and dropped out of high school, she was able to keep a positive aspect on life.

A humble person who self-taught herself all of her skills from learning English by herself to learning the hard way how to sew and do arts and craft, she was the real deal.

She has always been very creative making arts and crafts, designing clothes and cooking. Before she passed away she would sell her own clothes at the market and and would even get paid by teachers to decorate their classroom.

She always had a passion about making her mark in the world using her own skills and talent which brought about Kawaisa.org so she could share her skills with the rest of the world.

About Me

I am a Vietnamese adoptee who made his way to Canada at the end of the Vietnam War during the time of Operation Baby Lift. After living most of my childhood in Quebec, Canada, we moved to the United States during my teenage years.

I graduated from Emory University and for one reason or another, ended up for moving to Costa Rica which is where I met, married and had a son with Patricia.

I works in marketing and is am the founder of Blind Monkey Media, an Online Marketing Company for Small Businesses in Gainesville, GA that not only caters to the Metro Atlanta area but also to clients all over the world.

In my spare time, I enjoy fishing, camping, crafting, cooking, traveling, and play the ukulele.

Goal, Mission and Vision

There are no grandiose plans for this website. At first, I didn’t want anything to do with this website but kept paying for its renewal since it was one of the few things left I had of her. Then, I started to slowly continue and upgrade this website as part of the healing process a year after she passed away.

Today, the goal for this website is for it to pay for itself and to share her passion about DIY Arts an Crafts with the rest of the world so she will not be forgotten.
